Over the years I have had interesting and insightful conversations with peers, colleagues, clients, and competitors. That is the inspiration behind People of Substance by LemonSkies. People of Substance are a series of conversations that introduce you to people working within the nonprofit sector and you are invited to drop in. While we touch on trends and best practices, this is first and foremost about getting to know interesting individuals in our space.
Meet Jeremy Reis (pronounced like “rice”). Jeremy is a Senior Director of Marketing at World Concern. He is also a very prolific author with two published books, a regular podcast Nonprofit Answers, and even animated series about the realities of working at a nonprofit featuring Dave the Development Director (here is my favorite episode The Song, watch it!). While Jeremy and I have been LinkedIn buddies for some time, this was our very first face to face conversation. We talk about the foibles of fundraising, importance of content to tell the nonprofit story, and keeping groceries in stock to feed teenagers.
